Composants d'Arles

Composants d'Arles (components of Arles) is a series of photographs taken in the French city of Arles. Located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Arles is a world heritage site with one of the largest collections of roman architecture outside of Rome - including a magnificent amphitheatre. It also has a history of artistic association: Van Gogh painted here and famously convalesced in the hospital having cut off his ear; and the renowned photography festival - Rencontres de la Photographie - takes place in Arles from July-September every year.

I was fortunate enough to visit during this year's 'Rencotres' (2017) and, as well as taking in as many exhibitions as possible, I took the opportunity to make some photographs of my own. A selection of the results are what you see in this small exhibition.
